Welcome to the Attleboro Clean Energy Project information website. The Project will bring clean energy to the City of Attleboro and create the first green industrial park in Massachusetts. We understand that you have questions about how this will affect your community. That’s why we have put together this website to provide a forum to ask and answer your questions. Allow me to answer the first two questions: What is the Attleboro Clean Energy Project and what are the benefits of the plan?

First, the Attleboro Clean Energy Project will involve the construction of a state-of-the-art gasification facility at the Attleboro Corporate Campus, located at the former Texas Instruments complex on Pleasant Street. Ze-gen will build, own, and operate this small commercial facility to supply energy to the businesses in the industrial park. The Project will occupy existing buildings and part of an adjacent parking lot in the park, behind the site of NewStream’s existing industrial wastewater treatment facility. 

Second, the facility will keep waste generated in the region out of landfills and put it to better use.  The Project will divert approximately 22,000 tons of waste from landfills and incinerators per year (average of 75 tons per day). Before arriving on-site, recyclable material will be separated and the waste will be processed for use at the Attleboro facility. The feedstock will then be converted into electricity and steam to satisfy the needs of the campus.
